CUZ THEY TECHED THE AGES LOL
Nah, but really. So like, all the ages of almost every single character in Evergrace and Forever Kingdom, right? They all seem to differ greatly from original to overseas versions. I have a list and sources, but I'll add em on the wiki later.
So, the two biggest sources I have are the Evergrace PS2 Official Guide Book (published by... NTT?) and the character bios from Evergrace 2. Man, the fucking Official Guide Book... It had all the info I needed that the game itself DIDN'T HAVE. WHY DID THEY RELEGATE IT TO A BOOK MAN. A BOOK. But well, let's start with what I could see from an eBay listing.
Darius, who's 19 in Agetec-localized Evergrace, is 18-20 in the game...? 18-19, 18-20, I can't actually see it properly but I think that it was the latter. So, it makes sense that Agetec would split the difference and say 19. Cool. This is the simplest answer we're getting. We'll talk about Forever Kingdom later.
Sharline is 18 in overseas Evergrace, right? I see you people on that Lobos guy's Evergrace livestream googling how old she is. I see you. Because I was one of them. Anyways, the Official Guide Book lists her age as 16. After realizing this, someone told me that raising ages just to be considered an adult was quite common for the time. But still, Agetec, I have questions.
Now for another quite large change, Sienna's age was raised from 24 to 28. Unfortunately, I can't see if Trandin's age was changed, so from current knowledge that means she had Trandin when she was 18. Damn, that's not easy. We love you mom.
Naphato and Orladin are also changed slightly. The king is made 5 years younger, and the prince is 2 years younger. Why? Do you not like old men, Agetec?! Actually, to be blunt, that makes Orladin's attraction to Sharline.... It was nasty before, but now it feels nastier. It is worth nothing that in the novel, Orladin is said to be a lot younger, around Darius' age.
Oh, speaking of the novel, the younger Darius was 7 years old according to Sharline. Then Darius says that the events of that time happened about 13 years ago, so 13 + 7 = about 20 years old in the novel. See, Darius is awfully consistent. That's just a little thing, little Darius isn't mentioned much in the game.
That's about all for Evergrace. Now, Forever Kingdom... Wow. If you got the assumption that a bunch of these young adults were going to war, that's far from the case. Darius, Faeana, and Ruyan are 19, 18, and 18 respectively, right?
Nah. 16-17, 15, and 14-16.
RUYAN COULD BE A 14 YEAR OLD KID GOING TO JOIN THE SOLTA ARMY. Sure, he's considered an adult within the game, but... Damn. With that, I can understand a bit why Agetec upped the ages - it doesn't mess with the lore too much either, just implies Darius' bloody wartimes happened in a lot shorter timespan. This info's already been added to the wiki, so no worries about that.
Solca and Karmyla's ages are also changed, too. Their bios in Forever Kingdom aren't really mentioned, but they're there along with others. You just have to unlock bonus mode and flip through the bios like you do with switching characters. THEY DON'T MENTION THIS!!!!! DAMN IT!!!! I will add that information later, but that's about all I got.
Hope you learned something today!
